High School: Arcadia High School, Class of 2026
GPA: 4.0(Cummalitive)
Standardized Test Scores: PSAT(1470)
Cross Country/Track
Participation: 2022-
For athletics, I participate in the cross country and track team. Ever since I joined, Cross country has taught me invaluable life skills. While training is long and repetitive, running has showed me that it is possible to accomplish amazing things with persistence, hard work, and consistency. Running has showed me the importance of good self confidence and work ethic, and teamwork.
Orchestra
Participation: 2019-
Ever since middle school, I have played the violin and participated in orchestra, both in and out of school. As a member of Orchestra, I have learned to be more responsible, as well as how to work with others. I have learned to stay consistent and to practice every day, since I know that is what’s expected of me. Group cohesion is also important for successful playing, and orchestra has helped me make many friends.
Applied Engineering
Participation: 2023-
I am also a member of the Arcadia High School Applied Engineering team. In this team, we collaborate to build a high tech racing boat from scratch, an extremely daunting engineering task. However, with the combined efforts of all the team members, this task slowly becomes more achieveable and reaches fruition. Being a member of this team has taught me how to tackle complex and large projects through team management. It has also taught me many technical skills.
Math Team
Participation: 2023-
Since I was young, the world of mathematics has always fascinated me. The idea of using numbers as a tool to solve problems was always something that I enjoyed. This led me to enter the world of competition mathematics, where students compete through solving difficut and challenging math problems. I found an interest in this, which led to me trying out for and making it into the Arcadia High School Math team. Here, through solving complex problems, I have learned critical thinking skills, as well as a good sense with numbers.
3d Printing
Working with 3d printers is one of my greatest skills. When I was 10, I was gifted my first 3d printer, and I instantly fell in love with the technology. Throughout the years, I’ve built and owned many 3d printers, which have given me an in depth understanding of the technology, as well as how to operate and fix these machines. With my 3d printing skills, I am able to quikcly fabricate anything that I want to, helping greatly speed up the maker workflow.
CAD Software
Another skill that I have that goes hand in hand with 3d printing is the basic ability to use CAD software. I am familiar with the programs Fusion 360 and Solidworks, which help me design parts that I can print. I have also designed parts to be used by my father, who works a job that requires fabrication. Overall, My CAD skills allow me to take my ideas into reality when combined with 3d printing.
Blender
I also have skills in blender, a program used to create 3d models. However, unlike the aforementioned programs Fusion 360 and Solidworks, this program is used in a more artistic fashion. Knowing how to use this tool has been useful for me, since it allows me to quickly take ideas to 3d form, and also has given me a familiarity with using similar 3d modeling programs.
Building/Cosplay
Building cosplays(Which you can find on this website!) has helped me learn some invaluable fabrication skills. By building cosplays, I have learned how to make use with limited resources in order to accomplish a goal(E.G attaching armor pieces). I have also learned how to use many tools through this, such as how to solder, how to use drills, how to sand, how to paint, etc. Overall, Cosplay has given me important problem solving skills, as well as technical skills to create things from scratch.
Origami
Another skill I have is origami. I originally started out by folding small toys out of random papers lying around, but with practice am now able to fold complex models. Origami, while not a very useful skill, has branched out and given me many more important skills, the main one being patience. Origami is challenging, with one model often taking more than a dozen hours. However, this has taught me patience, and how to slowly approach a problem, without becoming anxious or frustrated. Without origami, I would not have the patience and discipline needed to see some of the other projects I do through.
AMC 10(2023)
The AMC 10(American Mathematics Competition) is an annual mathematics competition. It is designed as a competition for students interested in more advanced math. I competed in 2023, but was unable to meet the top percentile required to move on. However this year’s competition was leaked, so this may have had an effect.
Score 10A: 100.5
Score 10B: 87.5
AAASE Summer 2023
The AAASE(Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering) is a organization dedicated to helping students with an interest in STEM develop their skills further.
Tri-M Music Honor Society
I am also a member of Tri-M, a music honor society that focuses on volunteering. Through this program, I am able to volunteer and help others, while focusing on a cause that I support, which is helping the music programs in my school.
